Windows Phone will borrow features from iOS and Android - BBC News

in the operating system Windows Phone 8.1 for smartphones embed notification center and “intelligent” personal assistant – features that are already competing platforms iOS and Android. It is reported by The Verge citing sources close to Microsoft. As expected, the new mobile “eight” show in April 2014 at the conference BUILD.

Notification Center, one of the most requested features from the Windows-users of smartphones will look like a curtain that you want to brush away from the top of the screen. It will show missed calls, SMS, weather, and other messages.

WP 8.1 also brings a personal assistant codenamed Cortana (named after the artificial intelligence of a series of 3D-shooter Halo). It will replace the search application Bing, allowing to ask questions or voice input text. Analogue Google Now and Siri can, for example, remind scheduled meeting or calculate how long it will take to the road.

Presumably, for the “brains” Cortana will stand engine Satori, already used in the search engine Bing. She can show notifications, weather, calendar events, and will also have access to the location of the person and the hardware capabilities of the smartphone, including Bluetooth.

other innovations WP 8.1 will support VPN, the ability to change the volume for each specific event (calls, music, SMS notifications). According to The Verge, two devices that will be pre-installed update, the company is already preparing Nokia. One of them (with some kind of system 3D Touch, which will interact with a smartphone, without touching the screen) is codenamed Goldfinger, and the other – Moneypenny.
